NOTICE OF RACE


1 RULES
1.1 The regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in current edition of The Racing Rules of Sailing.

1.2 The prescriptions of the Canadian national authority will apply.


2 ADVERTISING
Advertising will be restricted to Category C.


3 ELIGIBILITY AND ENTRY
3.1 The One Day One Design Series is open to all boats of the J/29, J/24, J22 class. Three boats are needed in each eligible class to guarantee a start for that class. The Ladies One Day Series is open to all boats (PHRF-NS Handicap scoring) having entirely female crews and skipper.

3.2 Eligible boats may enter by completing the registration form available at registration.


4 FEES
Required entry fee is $30 per day scheduled in the series.


5 SCHEDULE
5.1 Registration: From 0900 to 0930

5.2 Competitor’s Meeting: From 0945 to 1000

5.3 There will be up to 7 races sailed.

5.4 The scheduled time of the warning signal for the first race is 1100 hrs.


6 SAILING INSTRUCTIONS
The sailing instructions will be available at registration.


7 VENUE
Racing will take place in Halifax Harbour and its approaches.


8 THE COURSES
The courses will be described in the sailing instructions.


9 SCORING
9.1 One (1) race is required to be completed to constitute a series.

9.2 (a) When fewer than 5 races have been completed, a boat’s series score will be the total of her race scores.

(b) When 5 or more races have been completed, a boat’s series score will be the total of her race scores excluding her worst score.


10 RADIO COMMUNICATION
A boat shall neither make radio transmissions while racing nor receive radio communications not available to all boats. This restriction also applies to mobile telephones. The Race Committee will communicate with competitors on VHF Channel 72.


11 PRIZES
Prizes will be awarded to the top three finishers in each class.


12 DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY
Competitors participate in the regatta entirely at their own risk. See rule 4, Decision to Race. The organizing authority will not accept any liability for material damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during, or after the regatta.


13 INSURANCE
Each participating boat shall be insured with valid third-party liability insurance with a minimum cover of $1,000,000 per event or the equivalent.
