With a history of producing top Canadian Youth Sailors the RNSYS Race Team programs offer a full season of high-performance sailing programs in many classes. We are passionate about developing lifelong sailors and being one of the leading programs across Canada for youth racing. Our athlete-centred, coach-driven, parent/club-supported programs allow sailors to excel in the sport of competitive sailing. All programs provide top-quality coaching, individual training plans, goal-setting sessions, nutrition, and fitness. Teams compete in local, regional, national, and international events depending on their development.

2025/2026 Winter High Performance Training
Join the RNSYS Race Team for Winter Training! Expand your sailing season and push your skills to the next level with our winter training programs. Coached by our experienced coaching team these events will help you stay sharp through the winter and expand your Opti, ILCA or 29er skills. All of our winter training programs are priced at $225/day for coaching. Learn to Race Team
For sailors who have Optimist experience, who love competitive sport and are new to the sport of sailboat racing this program is for you! Sailors who are in this Learn to Race program will continue to refine boat handling skills and theory both on and off the water. Sailors will master sailing skills, complete practice race drills and build confidence in sailboat maneuvers.

Optimist Race Team
For sailors who have Optimist sailing experience and who love the competitive sport of sailboat racing, this program is for you! Sailors who are in this program will continue to refine boat handling skills and theory both on and off the water. Sailors will master sailing skills, complete practice race drills and build confidence in sailboat racing. Sailors in the Optimist Race Team Program will be able to race successfully in all race courses.

ILCA Race Team
ILCA 4 & 6 (Laser 4.7 & Radial) racing program for youth to develop their skills in the ILCA (Laser) class. For sailors with Optimist racing experience or previous ILCA 4 & 6 experience in the competitive sport of sailboat racing, this program is for you! Sailors in this program will continue refining boat handling skills and theory both on and off the water. Sailors will master ILCA sailing skills, complete practice race drills, and build confidence in sailboat racing.

29er Race Team
For sailors with Optimist racing experience, ILCA or c420 experience who like sailing with others and working in a team and are looking for their next challenge in a fast exciting boat- this program is for you! This program is designed for sailors new to the 29er to build skills in the boat. Sailors in this program will continue refining boat handling skills and theory both on and off the water. Sailors will work to master 29er sailing skills, complete practice race drills, and build confidence in sailboat racing. Sailors in this program will build skills in spinnaker, trapeze, communication and teamwork.

29er Race Coach Jack Gogan
Jack has been sailing competitively since age 9. He has sailed Opti, I420, 29er, Waszp, AC40, and 49er, representing Canada internationally. For the past 6 years he has been sailing 49er competing both nationally and internationally. Some notable event that he has taken part in would include 2022 49er world championship, 2024 Youth Americas Cup, 2024 Princesa Sophia Regatta, and 49er Canadian championship from 2019 to 2023. Jack has a strong background in skiff sailing having competed at top-end events as both a skipper and a crew. RNSYS is excited to welcome Jack back to his home club to work with our club 29er athletes for the 2025 season!

IQFoil Race Coach Mark Postles
Mark has been travelling and teaching a wide range of watersports for the last 15 years throughout Europe, South & Central America and the Caribbean. Having now settled in Canada he will be sharing his knowledge and passion for board sports to grow our windsurf, wind foil & wing foil programs as well as pushing the waszp fleet. If you want to experience the blissful thrill of gliding silently over the water on a foil, whether it's a board or a boat, then reach out to Mark and he would love to get you on the right pathway.

ILCA Race Coach - Forrest Walchosz
Forrest was born in Halifax in 1997 and moved to Ontario in 1999, where his family became members of the Barrie Yacht Club. This was the starting point for his sailing journey, as he raced dinghies and keelboats on Lake Simcoe, learning to have fun and enjoy the sport. When he was 13, he decided he’d like to pursue the sport more seriously and began sailing the radial (ILCA 6) and racing at local junior regattas. In 2012, he joined the Kingston Yacht Club race team and began training semi-full time. At the end of 2012, he joined the Ontario sailing team and competed in the Canadian radial circuit as well as the Florida circuit in the winter. In 2014, he transitioned to the Laser Full Rig (ILCA 7) while still on the Ontario team. In 2015, he won the youth championships in Kingston in the Full Rig. From 2015 to 2017, he remained on the Ontario team, training and racing both in Canada and internationally. He attended his first senior world championships in Split, Croatia, in the fall of 2017. Between 2017 and 2019, he trained alongside the national team and competed in North America and Europe. In 2020, he qualified for the CSDS (Canadian Sailing Development Squad). Between 2019 and 2023, he competed and trained around the world, attending 3 world championships (including a race win at the 2021 world championships in Barcelona). He also competed in numerous World Cups and European Championships, among others. He retired from professional sailing in April of 2023. Training and racing against the best athletes in the world was a huge privilege for him, and he really enjoyed knowing that he was capable of beating the best in the world from time to time. He has coached Masters athletes over the last few years as well as done some short-term youth coaching. It is his intention to bring his experience and drive into the coaching world. He looks forward to sharing his knowledge and inspiring the next generation of athletes. He is excited to meet everyone in April!
